So your photographs can maintain their high quality, images are printed and then adhered to the wood block (instead of being printed directly on the wood). They are then covered with a protective layer for water and light resistance. Each block is created to stand the test of time. The protection layer adds a unique look and the subtle charm of a painted piece.

Photoblocks are a beautiful marriage of modern technological photo design and rustic handwork. This process is done entirely by hand by our great team, meaning each are a one-of-a-kind piece of art. Because each piece is crafted individually, the pieces need their own print laying, finishing, coating and drying time. This requires a carefully allotted timeframe to guarantee the product you receive is absolutely perfect. Sometimes we have to remake a product and that can make the production time longer. The Original Photoblocks journey has been really amazing. This idea was born in July 2010, but the first year wall full of trials and errors. Finding the perfect materials and making sure this product will last longer than a year was not an easy journey. Originally they were created for my clients only (Gabriela Koopmans Photography) but we discovered very quickly that we made something authentic and truly created from our hearts, so we decided to share our Photoblocks with the world. The response to our products was and is still overwhelming. We work 24/7 with just as much passion as we did when we first started. Lots of bumps on the road and growing pains that are already behind us. We met lots of new friends and amazing artists that we admire and believe in. We still remember why we started, we believe in artists, we believe in the importance of printing your art. The love we have for photography keeps us going and growing. We are so very grateful for every order and every photo that goes trough our hands.
